Things sure did start out bumpy for this sweet girl. When her first owner shipped off to Iraq, he flew her from Florida to Michigan to be with his parents. (The cargo hold can be a loud and scary place!). After all of that, not only did the parents coldly dump her at the shelter, but it appears that they rarely let her out or gave her any positive attention (and unfortunately, apparently lots of negative attention). So as you can imagine, the world had become a very lonely and scary place.
But my have things turned around! Shelby has been blessed with a great team of people who not only believed in her but who stepped up to help her. Shelby is now enjoying a fabulous foster home with patient, loving parents, a huge couch for those long legs, a doggie brother and sister and even a cat! She is working every day to let go of old fears and realizing that the world is a safe place.
This beautiful girl is an absolute gem! Her spirit just wins you over from the first moment. She has the best temperament, aims to please and just wants to be by your side all the time. She is a couch potato who loves naps and gets along great with everyone – dogs and cats. She shows no aggression whatsoever and only wants to be by your side. Now all she needs is her very own forever home. Could you be Shelby’s forever person? If you let her, she will give you a lifetime of love.
Shelby is about 3 years old, fixed, up-to-date on her shots, and microchipped. She is a greyhound/pit bull/lab mix.
If you are interested in adopting this pet, please read the following info first:
You MUST fill out an adoption application FIRST before meeting any of our dogs.We DO NOT have a shelter, our dogs are fostered in private, individual homes. For the safety of our foster dogs and volunteers, we do not allow potential adopters to meet any foster dog, until an adoption application has been submitted and reviewed.
Our first priority is the welfare of each of our dogs. We will choose the home that we feel is the best match for each dog's personality and needs..We are a very small group with only a handful of volunteers. We have multiple dogs in our care, and our volunteers also have full-time 9-5 jobs. So please be patient.
